Gender equality and/or inequality?

This article presents a study of publicly available Svenskt översättarlexikon ‘The Swedish Encyclopaedia Translators’ (SwET 2009), most probably the first digital encyclopaedia translators. The is situated in fields sociology translators, (literary) translator studies, and translation history, focuses on how female translators are described, characterized evaluated version SwET from 2022. Three research questions addressed paper: (1) What ratio entries presenting male SwET? (2) quantitative treatment partners sub-category “Translator Couples”? (3) And what descriptions, characterizations evaluations that sub-category? In response to three RQs, same situations emerge: (a) gender equality inequality, (b) equality, (c) inequality. Possible explanations for results reported presented discussed. Finally, proposals future studies encyclopaedias presented.
